The Chief of Staff Role at BAM will be a generalist role supporting the entire partnership.
You’ll do everything that the rest of the investment team does: support our portfolio companies, meet new founders, build our networks across different spaces, help with fund administration, and get in the weeds of nitty-gritty tasks that come with operating a venture fund.
One day you may be helping a founder evaluate their performance marketing strategy, another you may be researching the breast cancer detection software market, another you may be putting together a portfolio update report for our LP's, and another you may be helping us track down a general manager for an incubation project.
Our goal at BAM is to meet the best entrepreneurs raising money as early as possible and to invest in companies that become outlier successes, so everything we do is with that end goal in mind.
Below is a more detailed outline of the role expectations / responsibilities:
- Stand in for an investment team member in any number of instances, including a meeting with a pipeline company or networking with other investors; you should be a proxy for the partners as the first pass on new deals to determine what deserves further consideration
- Cultivating relationships with founders, investors, and other networks to source new investment opportunities
- Manage and track relationships and communications to connect the dots when valuable; track talented individuals who may not yet have started a business so that we have an inroads if / when they do
- Deeply understand the businesses and markets we look at; perform market research and due diligence reports for potential investments including financial analysis, product testing, and generating industry landscapes
- Support the founders within our existing portfolio with their needs; cultivate a network of experts that can become go-to resources for founders as they need
- Put BAM in the best light forward in the community and to our investors; help support internal operations with LP reporting, LP events, and LP fundraising.
- Initiating and leading special projects (building internal products and programs, research deep dives)
- Be a scrappy generalist and team player who is willing to lean in with whatever needs to be done
