Hitachi Ventures is the Venture Capital arm of Hitachi, Ltd. With $600M AUM, we invest in innovative startups with strategic relevance to Hitachi, Ltd. that address society’s key technological challenges in target areas such as industry, mobility, health care, sustainability and IT. With offices in Germany and United States we invest in North America, Europe and Israel.

The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background and will be supporting the Partners in investments in the areas of AI, enterprise and infrastructure software. As an Investment Analyst, you will have the opportunity to work with an industry recognized venture fund with a global footprint. You will participate in every aspect of the investment process while contributing to the growth of the firm in Silicon Valley.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Deal sourcing and screening of investment opportunities in alignment with the Fund’s core investment themes
• Development of investment theses in different technology areas
• Perform and coordinate activities such as market sizing, industry and sector analysis, competitive positioning, technical feasibility, and other areas critical to investment evaluation and knowledge sharing
• Prepare investment memos and contribute research results to investment discussions
• Work with portfolio companies in supporting their growth
• Support efforts to deliver to Hitachi business leaders an outside-in view of the entrepreneurial ecosystem, while collaborating with these leaders to understand where we can best add value
• Build and maintain a network in the venture capital and startup community
• Ability to work onsite for few days a week

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Master’s degree (science, engineering or technical discipline preferred) MS or PhD in an engineering, data science or Computer Science related discipline
• 1-2 years of experience in a technical product management role
• Outstanding analytical skills, detail-oriented, proactive, and highly driven
• Ability to produce “board level” PowerPoint presentations and succinct Word memos
• Demonstrated excitement related to the entrepreneurial ecosystem
• Research background in AI/Machine Learning, Computer Vision, Natural Language Processing or related areas will be a positive
• Prior experience in venture capital is a plus
• Must be authorized to work in the USA
