Learn more at www.mach49.com.Our Venture Investing Practice (VIP) is actively engaged in deal sourcing, conducting due diligence, negotiating investment deals, building portfolio company value, generating portfolio reports, and managing exits in early-stage ventures.  The VIP team operates as a set of embedded Partners-in-Residence with leading corporate venture capital, M&A, and partnering teams. We act as extensions of their teams, attending Partner meetings and offering unbiased perspectives borne from decades of experience in venture capital and strategic investing. As long-term partners, we provide critical insights throughout the entire deal-making lifecycle, from fund design to recruiting to deal sourcing/execution to portfolio management.

/ THE ROLE

As a Principal, you will play a leadership role with our external venturing leadership team and the funds they advise through market research, business and financial analysis, thought leadership, junior team management, and building/maintaining our internal knowledge infrastructure and external relationships. Responsibilities will include:

Market analysis: Perform in-depth research to support new and existing corporate investment thesis development, including producing written research/analysis, sector presentations, white papers, and investment memos.Client management: Regularly interface with C-level executives at Global 1000 companies, presenting sector and deal analyses and offering points of view on venturing activities.Venture analysis: Support end-to-end due diligence activities and recommendations on behalf of (and alongside) clients, including market analysis, modeling, due diligence, structuring, legal documentation, negotiation, and investment committee presentations.Team management: Manage the growing pool of Associates and Analysts, coordinating multiple workstreams across the Venture Investing team and ensuring the highest quality output on deliverables.Internal operations: Grow and maintain our internal tools and knowledge database (e.g., relationship management platform) and create standardized operational processes to enable our team’s growth.Please note this is not a direct investing role

/ REQUIREMENTS

You could be a good fit for the role if you have 8-10+ years of professional experience with 7+ years in a direct venture investment role. This will include extensive experience sourcing, conducting due diligence (including in-depth financial analysis), negotiating investment deals, building value with portfolio companies, generating portfolio reports, and managing exits in early-stage ventures.
