We are seeking an Impact Investment Senior Analyst who will be responsible for expanding an existing impact investment portfolio that is focused on the challenges presented by climate change. As part of the family office investment team, this position will focus on sourcing, evaluating, executing, and monitoring investments across multiple asset classes. The Impact Investment Senior Analyst will work closely with the principals to develop strategy, find effective social impact investments, and help them develop new processes for tracking a diverse set of investment opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct research to advance our understanding of targeted impact sectors and related technologies. Build upon this research to develop new impact investment themes.
  • Identify actionable investment opportunities while mapping and tracking relevant impact-aligned investments for a multi-asset class portfolio. Primary focus will be given to third-party managed private equity and venture capital funds.
  • Lead investment due diligence and work with the family office CIO to evaluate investment opportunities, producing written research notes and detailed financial models. Present investment recommendations to the family office CIO and Green Spark members.
  • Guide approved investments to completion, working with legal, tax, and accounting resources.
  • Monitor and provide ongoing support to the investment portfolio, regularly reviewing fund reports, participating in management calls, and tracking relevant sector news.
  • Produce annual impact reporting to track the portfolio’s progress relative to stated impact objectives. Regularly report upon the investment portfolio’s financial performance relative to the original investment thesis and benchmarks.
  • Represent Green Spark within investor syndicates and at conferences. Build collaborative relationships with fund managers, companies, and other impact investors.
  • Identify and develop opportunities to advance Green Spark’s impact objectives through collaboration among the portfolio’s investments, Green Spark’s environmentally related philanthropic activities, and other family members with similar interest in social impact investing.
  • Develop impact investment educational opportunities for next generation family members, working with family office staff and consultants to build content and facilitate family meetings.

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a business-related field with an excellent academic record. An MBA or CFA designation is preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in investing, investment banking, or business consulting (preferred)
  • A proven analytical ability, strong command of advanced financial concepts, and working knowledge of private equity fund and venture capital deal structures
  • Advanced financial modeling and Microsoft Excel skills
  • Ability to set priorities and advance projects in a less-structured work environment
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • High integrity, intellectual honesty, self-awareness, and humility
  • A shared passion for Green Spark’s environmental impact objectives and a working knowledge of the impact investing landscape.
  • Preferred: Experience with tracking portfolio performance against impact metrics or a background managing climate change priorities within projects or organizations.
